[comp.sys.mac] Apple's Mini DIN connectors

ryan (Ryan Jorgenson) (06/03/89)

Does anybody know where to get Apple's mini DIN connectors for the
serial ports? We've been trying to find a source for them and they
seem to be either nonexistant or the people that you talk to want
to sell you a pre-wired cable for big $$$. I bet this has been
covered before, but I just bought a Mac IIcx. If anybody can
give me a source and hopefully approximate pricing I would appreciate
it. If it's a Canadian source, so much the better.

Altex Electronics sells many type of cables and cable parts at low prices.
In particular they have mini-DIN connectors, from three to eight pins, male
and female. Even the most expensive is $1.25 Q1. Serial cables are $8.95,
SCSI system cables are $9.95, 6 ft. extensions are $15.95

For more details see pages 314-318 in the Computer Shopper April '89.

Another source for the plugs is:

   MCM Electronics
   858 E. Congress Park Drive
   Centerville, OH 45459-4072
   [800] 543-4330

Get their catalog! It has many things useful to Mac tinkerers. The flyback
transformers, for example.
