R. Crispin had suggested a solution to this problem. To recap, he said to put the statement (formatted as PostScript) "statusdict begin 2 setpapertray end" in the first page header (to select letterhead) and "statusdict begin 1 setpapertray end" in the general header, using Word, for instance. This worked fine, for letters longer than a page. For one page letters, it is not satisfactory, because the instruction on the second page header never gets executed and subsequent jobs will come out on letterhead by default. I tried moving the second instruction instead to the first footer, but this simply nullifies the first instruction, and the letter comes out on plain paper. I also tried the other suggestions which make use of the "setdefaultpapertray" command, but any document using these fails to print at all. So it seems that there are still many of us awaiting a satisfactory solution to this problem. -- - Scott
