I want to add some non volatile memory to my MacIIx. The easiest path would seem to be to get a normal memory board that has socketed DIPs that are compatable with the Dallas Semi DS1230Y (or more recent equivalant) which uses the same form factor as a 28 pin byte wide 32KX8 format, but sticks a small lithum battery and assoicate logic on top of the DRAM. Thus by just replaceing normal DRAM's it becomes a NVRAM board. Of course a made from the ground up NVRAM board would be even easier, but I have yet to find one. Ideally I would like to buy the board withOUT its memory so I would not have to sell/be-stuck with it, but that isn't critical. Size wise a 1-2MB board would be about right. Even if a board you know of does not use this form factor RAMS, let me know as long as its socketed dips, since Dallas Semi likley has newer parts than are reflected in my 1987-88 handbook. apple!jrg John R.
