[Discussion about defective Seagate HD 40's]

There has been lots of discussion about defective Quantum HD40's.
Now, you've brought up defective Seagate HD40's. Is this a
conincidence? What are the symptoms of a defective Seagate.
How do you identify the defective Seagates. Was the Seagate used
before the production run of defective 3.5" Quantums or afterwards?

In defense of Rodime, I myself have only had good dealings with
Rodime (once)...call me lucky?

One fateful Saturday, my Rodime 140meg internal decided that it did
not want to mount one of my partitions on startup. After much
hair pulling, brow-wiping, I called Rodime in FL that night. Their
machine answered and I left my name and number so that "one of their
technicians could call me back". Anyway, I eventually solved the
problem myself (with Disk First Aid), but sure enough, Rodime called
back bright and early Monday morning (6:30 am - I neglected to mention
I was on the West Coast) and wanted to know what the problem was.

That is my only experience with Rodime - and since then (February),
My HD has been very faithful.
