What is the current situation with Syquest drive systems? I know this was discussed a while back, and the general concensus was that the drives were not as reliable as regular hard drives. I'm now considering buying one from Microtech or LaCie; has anyone had problems with the drives from either of these two companies? MacWorld recently did an article which listed all the companies which market these drives, and Microtech was curiously absent. Are they going under? Are there any other drives worth looking at? How is the software-- is a DA or a special program required to mount a disk? Last question: can a disk formatted on a drive by one manufacturer be read on a drive from another? I would be deeply grateful for answers to any of these questions. +====================\ Internet: jg2f+@andrew.cmu.edu \=======================+ | Jude Anand George \ BITNET: jg2f+@ANDREW | jg2f+%andrew@{CMCCVB|CMCCVMA} | | Andean judge ogre \ UUCP: the_known_world!harvard!andrew.cmu.edu!jg2f+ | +=======================\ CIS: 72307,1752 Jude George \====================+
