Sitting back and listening (reading?) all of the speculation and nodding agreement about Apple being responsible for the nuPrometheus leak, doesn't it just make you want to sit back and think about it all? I mean, Apple, in its young days, was an intellectual and corporate milestone -- the little kid with big shoes. But now, they've grown up to fill those shoes. And we've all grown right along with them, enjoying their products and cheering them on, from the original Apple ][ all the up to the Mac II. But look at them now -- it's like they have something to prove to everybody else -- like they've got an inferiority complex that would overspill the Grand Canyon. Granted, Apple, it's a big, bad, mean corporate world out there, but remember who got you there ("I'd like to thank all the little people I've stepped on...I mean, who have helped me so much")! There are many people out there who believe in you and your superior product. And obviously there are many people who are willing to pay the price to get the fruits of your labor (no pun intended). But seriously, do you really feel so threatened by the fact that others have realized what you've known for five years? Instead of trying to prevent them from doing what's been done, this should prod you to carry on and do better than you did before. A wise man once told me: The future is in your past. This holds true for you too, Apple. Remember where you came from -- the little guy. And remember how you got there -- by hard work, innovation, and sharing of ideas. I'm not advocating the inclusion of commented source code to the ROMs with the purchase of every Macintosh, simply that you permit other people to fulfill their dreams also. And, if you're not careful, some little company could come along with a brand-new idea, just like you did, and crumble your castle to rubble. The bigger they are, the harder they fall. NOTE: All of what has been written above is strictly my opinion. This in no way reflects my personal relationship with Apple Computer, or Tulane University's relationship with Apple Computer. I do not speak for Tulane, and they most certainly do not speak for me. /* end scathing flame */ Opinions anyone? (Boy, have i done it now...) -- Thanks Chris Cleeland, Tulane University Disclaimer: I haven't said anything worth not claiming!!!
