[comp.sys.mac] Changing Defaults

Rob.Weinberg@f444.n161.z1.FIDONET.ORG (Rob Weinberg) (06/16/89)

Is there a way, using ResEdit or whatever, to change the default settings in the MacDraw II application itself? I know I can create a template *document* with my choice of fonts, pen settings, etc., but I would really like to make these settings stick in the application itself. That way my commonly used settings would be available to me every time I openned the app.

I would appreciate any suggestions, since I use MacDraw II all the time.

With version 1.1 of MacDraw II (the current release) you can have what we
call autostationary. This means that whenever MacDraw II opens a New
document it looks for a special stationary file and if it exists it uses
this as the New document's template. This special file is called
"MacDraw II Options" and should be a stationary type file. MacDraw II
looks for it in your default folder, then in the system folder, then
in a folder called "Claris" in the system folder (a good place to squirrel
away other Claris files like our dictionaries).

I think this will accomplish what you are asking for without mucking with
the Application directly.

Yes. I used ResEdit to change the default Fonts in the font menu.
I may have done some other customization--I don't remember--it was
a long time ago.
