[comp.sys.mac] low-level Mac II video card programming

zs04+@andrew.cmu.edu (Zachary T. Smith) (06/23/89)

Hello,
I am presently attempting to alter a version of an X Window server
that runs on a Mac II under Mach (CMU's variation of Unix) to work with
the 2-Page Mono card/monitor. Problem is, the screen is inverted, i.e.
black and white pixels are swapped. Does anybody out there, by chance,
know if this card has a mechanism to exchange these and get a normal
looking screen again? Note that I cannot go thru the Mac OS, nor can I
use the card ROM's driver routines, because they do A-line calls.
From what I can tell, the card has no CLUT (it shouldn't need one
anyhow). I do know that the TFB chip on it is just version 2 of the one
that's one the 8-bit color card. Some of the registers also appear to
be the same as on the previous chip, but my data on that chip are vague
enough as it is.
Please email any responses directly to me, and thanks in advance.
