When in MacWrite II, I can display Helvetica as large as 83 points. If I make the size 84 points or larger, blanks are displayed on the screen where the characters should be. The characters print OK when I print to the LaserWriter. A similar problem happens with Times, although the threshold is at a higher point size. I haven't tried this with other fonts. The only thing I have that is unusual is versions of these fonts that are as large as 72 points. Could this be causing the problem, or is anyone else having a problem with large fonts in MW II? This isn't a life-or-death matter, but I am curious to know what's happening. Thanks. -Goz (goz@vm.ucsf.edu)

The large font sizes aren't a problem; a few of the programmers on the MWII team have Helvetica-72. It could be a problem with memory (how much do you have?), or it could be you're running MWII under an older version of the system. (You should use 6.0.x for best results.) Personally, I'd guess the former. Send me mail describing your system setup (hardware, version numbers, fonts, DAs, INITs, and so forth), and I'll see if I can find the answer.
