[comp.sys.mac] Mac Kermit executables

lwilson@umabco.UUCP (Lowell G. Wilson) (06/16/89)

I have been asked to see if I can dig up the latest version of Kermit
for the Mac IIx. We just got a bunch of the beasts in and the version
of Kermit we have looks to be outdated. I FTPed to Columbia but all I
could find there was C source code and we haven't got a C comiler on the
Mac. So, if anyone could tell me where I can get hold of a copy of the
executable, I'd really appreciate it. Thanks in advance...

I would be more than happy to mail a copy to anyone who wants a version
of 0.9(40). Just let me know and I'll send you a StuffIt/Binhex copy...

and in the UK they are available from uk.ac.lancs.pdsoft, account "pdsoft",
password "pdsoft", along with loads of Mac, Atari and IBM software (mainly
from Usenet NEWS). Of course, if you don't have already have an executable
version of Kermit, how do you download Kermit? (If you send a disk and
a couple of stamps to me I'll send you Kermit 0.9(40) and Binhex 4.0 and
various VT100 settings files and stuff.)

Better yet, FTP the executables from CUNIXC.CC.COLUMBIA.EDU
(128.59.40.130) which is the home of Kermit. The machine is open for
"anonymous" ftp, send the your ID as the password. The files are in
kermit/b/ckmker.* which has a number of files:

-rw-rw-r-- 1 cmg candf 3136 Aug 16 1988 ckmker.ann
-rw-rw-r-- 1 cmg candf 31930 Jan 12 21:01 ckmker.bwr
-rw-rw-r-- 1 cmg candf 49596 Aug 16 1988 ckmker.doc
-rw-rw-r-- 1 cmg candf 2425 Aug 16 1988 ckmker.dsk
-rw-rw-r-- 1 cmg candf 100781 Aug 16 1988 ckmker.hqx
-rw-rw-r-- 1 cmg candf 48022 Nov 8 1988 ckmker.mss
-rw-rw-r-- 1 cmg candf 92609 Aug 16 1988 ckmker.ps
-rw-rw-r-- 1 cmg candf 62443 Aug 16 1988 ckmker.r
-rw-rw-r-- 1 cmg candf 42397 Jan 5 15:11 ckmker.set

These are the files for version 0.9 of MacKermit. This version of
Kermit works on anything from a Mac Plus and higher. If you want to
use Kermit on a Mac 512K or Mac 128K, then you will need version 0.8
of MacKermit:

-rw-rw-r-- 1 cmg candf 39248 Aug 16 1988 ckm834.doc
-rw-rw-r-- 1 cmg candf 250 Aug 16 1988 ckm834.hlp
-rw-rw-r-- 1 cmg candf 109999 Aug 16 1988 ckm834.hqx
-rw-rw-r-- 1 cmg candf 36202 Aug 16 1988 ckm834.mss

All of the files mentioned above should be in kermit/b/ directory.
