Does anyone know what the pcc2 compiler is? Rumor has it that it is a better version of pcc. If anyone can help me, please send mail. regards, joe -- Full-Name: Joseph M. [I really shouldn't do this, but I can't resist :-] I've heard pcc2 described (by someone who has ported pcc to a screwy machine and at least seen pcc2) as pcc with all the pdp-11 dependencies replaced with VAX dependencies. <mike

This is actually pretty funny, since one of the problems in working with pcc on a 16-bit machine is all the 32-bit dependencies in it... -- Henry Spencer @ U of Toronto Zoology {allegra,ihnp4,linus,decvax}!utzoo!henry

I have started looking into pcc2. The code generation strategies have been modified substantially. The rumor is that the compiler runs considerably slower. What the rumor does not say is how much (if any) better the code generated is. Does anyone know if pcc2 is intended for use in a real port? Currently it is only available as a 68000 cross compiler. --Darryl Richman, INTERACTIVE Systems Inc. ...!cca!ima!ism780!darryl The views expressed above are my opinions only.
