We have a customer who needs to format ONE partition on a SCSI drive, leaving the remaining partitions (A/UX) INTACT. The Apple HD SC Setup program recognizes the drive (a Rodime 1400RX) after its return code is put in the program, and it recognizes all of the partitions. My question is, does clicking on the "Initialize" button result in the formatting of the ENTIRE DRIVE, or just the MacOS partition? I could find out by trial and error, but I'd really rather not! Is there any other way that anyone can think of to reformat the MacOS partition without formatting the rest of the drive? The "Erase Disk" option from the Finder doesn't quite do it... we're trying to get around some bad blocks on the drive by reformatting, since the software can't seem to handle the bad blocks very well (other suggestions for solving THAT problem would be helpful, too!). Please respond via e-mail. If there is interest, I will summarize to the net. -- Mark H.
