OK hardware people, here's your chance to shine. :-) Does the size of a MacII monitor influence the speed of the machine? (In other words, will a <MacIIcx:Dual Page Display> be slower than a <MacIIcx, Single Page Display>?) As a related question, does running multiple monitors degrade the MacII's performance? If I remember right, on the Mac+ the machine spent about 15-20% of it's time maintaining the video (during which, the processor would run VBLs, etc.); This, of course, left only 80-85% of the processor's time available for running applications. I assume that on the MacII most of the video logic (VRAM refresh, etc.) has been moved to the video boards, so the processor need not be as involved in the maintence of the video image. But just how much of the processor's time is available to application programs? And, if monitor size effects performance, what kind of performance difference is there between a TwoPageDisplay system and a OnePageDisplay system? Please respond via email. I promise to summarize. +Norm --- -- Norman Graham Oklahoma State University Internet: norman@a.cs.okstate.edu Computing and Information Sciences UUCP: {cbosgd, rutgers} 219 Mathematical Sciences Building !okstate!norman Stillwater, OK 74078-0599
