I'm still having some problems debinhexing files downloaded from sumex-aim.stanford.edu. Perhaps there's something simple I'm doing wrong that somebody can point out. I'll summarize the steps I've been following. First, I get the file with ftp. Someone sent me Email pointing out that there was sometimes text at the beginning of such files. So, I've been going into vi and deleting these initial lines of text. [I notice that the remaining file begins and ends with a colon (:)]. Then I download the file to my Mac with the macput -u command. Next I create a Stuffit archive and add the downloaded file. Finally, I extract that file. At that point, I get an error message, "Sorry, but the CRC check for the data fork of this file has failed. The file may be corrupted. Use it with caution!" And the resultant file is not usable. I have successfully downloaded a couple of files this way; one was a compressed text file and the other was a a cdev, if I remember correctly. I received mail today that binhex4.hqx was back on sumex. I tried the above procedure on it without success. I note that binhex4.hqx begins with text saying it must be debinhexed with binhex4. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. Steve Goldfield
