>(stuff about wanting a good printer, $700 price limit, ImageWriters not >so hot, etc. deleted) By the time you read this, HP should be out with the Mac-specific version of the DeskJet, called the DeskWriter. I don't know about prices; but; as a plain DJ goes for $549 in our neck of the woods, I'd say look for street prices for the DeskWriter in the $700-$800 area. --Adam Frix-- -- Adam Frix via cmhGate - Net 226 fido<=>uucp gateway Col, OH UUCP: ...!osu-cis!n8emr!cmhgate!200!Adam.Frix INET: Adam.Frix@f200.n226.z1.FIDONET.ORG

Well we may be able to help!!! As of July 1, HP officially introduced the DeskWriter Printer... a Deskjet specifically designed for the Mac. (Boy it's been tough keeping quiet all this time!) It comes with a chooser level driver that has been tested on literally hundreds of the most popular mac applications. If you have heard bad things about the speed of DeskJet with the Mac, then you will be pleasantly surprised by the DeskWriter. Over a wide range of test documents, DeskWriter averaged 1 page per minute (Mac SE, 20MB HB, 1MB RAM) while the LaserWriter IINT managed to get 2.31 (much less than rated 8 PPM). It retails for $1195, so I would guess that $700 is not unreasonable for a street price. Drop me a note if you want more info, but you really have to see it in action to appreciate it.
