HP INTRODUCES LASER-QUALITY PERSONAL PRINTER FOR MACINTOSH USERS
Palo Alto, California, July 5, 1989 -- The new HP DeskWriter printer from
Hewlett-Packard Company offers users of Apple Macintosh computers laser-quality
printing with personal convenience and a personal printer price.
Developed exclusively for use with Macintosh computers, the HP DeskWriter
printer has a U.S. list price of $1,195. The printer's small size, quiet
operation and price make it a good personal-printer choice: It offers
confidentiality and eliminates the wait and inconvenience sometimes associated
with a shared printer.
Based on HP's third-generation thermal ink-jet technology, the printer
provides 300 x 300 dots-per-inch (dpi) printing on plain paper. The printer
has a one-year warranty and is available now through HP-authorized dealers and
HP's direct sales force.
The printer is QuickDraw based and works with all popular Macintosh
business software. HP designed the printer for use with the Macintosh Plus, SE
and Macintosh II family of computers.
The HP DeskWriter printer features scalable outline fonts with a continuous
selection of font sizes up to 250 points and a large selection of familiar
typeface designs.
Other HP products available for use with the Macintosh are the HP PaintJet
color graphics printer, HP ScanJet Plus scanner and the complete line of HP
business and drafting plotters.
