Some time ago, I posted some observations about WINGZ versus EXCEL. I saw some replies indicating that the "Set Titles" thing would do what I wanted about splitting the screen. So I tried it on a worksheet I had running. Now the effect of this thing is not actually documented anywhere that I can find, and I'm really interested. There's also no apparent way to UNDO the blasted thing, and boy do I ever want to undo it. It seems that the effect is to split the screen at the current cell in such a way that you can NEVER AGAIN ACCESS OR CHANGE anything above or to the left of that cell. You cannot even see anything more than ONE ROW OR COLUMN above or left of that point: the titles are constrained to a single cell deep. I may be wrong, but that's all I can figure out from what happened and what I can read. Need I mention that when I selected this "feature", the current cell was near the bottom of the sheet? I even tried saving in one of the weird formats, hoping I could resurrect the stuff on re-reading, because the feature is missing from LOTUS, etc. I was foiled by WINGZ, which DOES NOT SAVE THE TITLES, i.e. nearly everything I want. What a misfeature!

kevin@kosman.UUCP (Kevin O'Gorman) says all sorts of stuff about Wingz: > There's also no apparent way to UNDO the blasted thing, and boy do I > ever want to undo it. Windows menu. There's an item named 'Show' that has a hierarchical sub-menu. Deselect 'Titles'. Admittedly, it's a bit arcane, but it's not *that bad*. > Now the effect of this thing is not actually documented anywhere that > I can find, and I'm really interested. Reference manual index, p. 346: Windows menu, subcategory 'Set Titles command', points you to p.76. On p.76 all is explained clearly. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Stephan Somogyi MacUserLabs@cup.portal.com NetWorkShop Coordinator or MacUser ...sun!cup.portal.com!MacUserLabs Stay alert, trust no-one, keep your laser handy. Actually, it does exist in Lotus, and it sounds like it is doing in Wingz exactly what it does in Lotus. The /WTH or V or B will set up immovable and unaccessable title ranges from the current point, this is to allow the columner headings to be seen from where ever you are in the worksheet. You can modify areas in the titles range in lotus, but you have to do a goto to get to that area. That's the way it works. Sorry your having problems, but it sounds like poor docs rather than a wrong program. For a look at a poor implimentation of a feature, look at wingz and the data fill command. For a fill you have to put the range, and the start and end point if the increment is other than one, it will fill the increment for you in between. So if I want 100 cells filled, with a step of .0276, I have to calculate the ending amount so that Wingz will fill the right increment. Let's see, start of 3.271+(.0276*100), Jeez, sounds like I need a spreadsheet to do the endpoint. It gets worse if I have a fill of say 71 rows and 154 columns. Not the best implimentation.
