My system config is: Mac 512, updated to 128k ROMS & 800k drives, 40MB hard drive (Seagate ST251 internals), system 6.0, finder 4.3? This is the symptom: when the system is booted up from the HD the happy mac comes up, then the dialog box that says "Welcome to Macintosh" comes up. then the dialog box starts flickering rapidly, at this point the system hangs. I have to reboot the system by powering up again. If I boot from a floppy everything works fine, execpt that 3 out of 5 times the hard drive is not recognized on the desktop. When the hard drive does show up on the desktop everythjing seems to work fine. Any ideas as to what the problem may be? pleas e-mail me and I will summarize for others who may have the same problem.
