We've got someone with a Mac IIcx running System 6.0.3, whose computer has major problems producing sounds, even the ones that come with the system software. When in the Control Panel's Sound cdev, a single click on one of the available sounds, or on the volume control, produces a slow, sick- sounding sound. Quickly-repeated clicks cause the sound to get better and better, and after a few, sound normal. Further single clicks again produce the distorted sounds. I have had the person reinstall the system software after trashing the whole System Folder, from the original Apple disks, so I'm fairly sure the software's okay. This didn't help. There are NO non-Apple inits currently installed, and no file server software of any sort. I've suggested that the user try installing from a FRESH set of system disks, and I'm waiting for the results on that. Has anyone heard of this happening, and if so, what's the solution? Please respond via e-mail, and I'll summarize to the net. -- Mark H. Anbinder ************************** mha@tcgould.tn.cornell.edu Baka Industries ** (biar!)memory!mha.uucp 200 Pleasant Grove Rd.
