[comp.sys.mac] Laserwriter w/Ethertalk

jkeegan@hawk.ulowell.edu (Jeff Keegan) (07/18/89)

I'm sure this has been asked before, and it may sound like a nieve question,
but bear with me..

At my work we have two Mac IIcx's connected with Tops over Appletalk.
They are both also connected with a Laserwriter II(the PostScript
laserwriter), since they are on the same Appletalk line..

We also have them connected to internet via ethernet cards.

We have settled for the reduced speed of the Appletalk connection between
the two Macs, so that we don't have to go to the Network cdev and switch
from Ethertalk to built-in every time we want to print something.

Am I missing something? There has GOT to be a better way to connect the
laserwriter.. We have just gotten a new Macintosh across the river in a
different building, and we can access it via tops if we use Ethertalk. This
has made it most preferable to use Ethertalk, but 85% of the people that use
the Macs every day would not be able to figure out how to change it back and
forth (or why). If someone can fill me in on this obvious something that I'm
missing, I'd appreciate it..

Thank you.

..Jeff Keegan
