[comp.sys.mac] Trashed System: how to recover

mithomas@bsu-cs.bsu.edu (Michael Thomas Niehaus) (07/24/89)

Maybe someone can help me. I made a slight miscalculation in a C program that
I was writing this afternoon, and it trashed my System file. I copied a new
System onto my hard disk, and everything is up and running.

But, there are all of these sounds, DAs, and fonts in the old system that I
would like to have, since I don't have any copies of them (stupid me). If
I try to open it up, I get an eofErr (-39), which is a "logical end of file
reached during read operation" error. Now, I have this 2.1MB file that I
can't read.

Does anyone know of some software that could possibly repair this?

you should always use suitcase if only to prevent such problems
(trashed system = trashed DAs, fonts, sounds)

Mike,

Mike,
hmmm. the -39 error makes it kind of tough for you to do much....

Try these:

Scavenger Mac
Mac Zap
Fe Edit

I hope these will help you out...
