Help please! I'm having a terrible time with my hard disk! I have a IIcx 4/80, and the hard disk won't boot. Basically, no utility program I have will recognize that there is a SCSI device inside the Mac. Here's what happened: 1) I turned on the computer, the access light flashes intermittently, and I get the disk with a flashing question mark. 2) I tried HD SC Setup to rewrite the drivers, but it says there is no SCSI device available. 3) I tried SUM, every utility in there. When it found the device 0, and I select that as the one to repair, it says that there is no partition map. Finally, I took the cover off, putzed around a little bit (naturally, I'm only 24 days beyond Apple's wonderful 90 day warranty period), put it back together, and VOILA! I got the hard disk back! I then tried to update the driver again, and got a message about "...or the partition map is invalid." So, I formatted and initialized, and then restored the drive. Through various restarts and tests, it worked fine. I tried again to turn on the computer this morning, and the same thing. I don't know what I did yesterday to get the hard disk back, so I haven't been able to replicate the procedure. I'm stuck. What keeps making the partition map invalid? What is a partition map? BTW, I'm running a IIcx 4/80, 8 bit color, Apple 13" monitor, with a PLI Turbo 40 attached (thank goodness, or I'd have nothing to work with), and various INITs which have given me no trouble for 114 days (note again that the time period is only _slightly_ longer than 90 days :)) The _only_ thing I've done recently is install 32 bit QD from the developer disks that came in the last mailing. Any quick help would be appreciated.
