[comp.sys.mac] GIF files and their manipulation

ifab734@walt.cc.utexas.edu (Walter M. Amos) (07/25/89)

Hi there! Recently I obtained via FTP some GIF files which had been advertised
on the rec.arts.anime board. I have transferred these from my mainframe
account to Macintosh via Kermit, but I now need to know how to put them
into a useable macintosh form (ie, a Macpaint file or the like). A friend
told me that a program called "The Giffer" exists for this purpose, but
neither he nor I have a copy. So, any information on this subject would be
greatly appreciated. AdvThanksAnce (Thanks in Advance!)

There is a program called GIFFER that allows you to view GIF files on the Mac,
but only on the Mac II. It should be available in the Usenet mac binaries
section.

Does anyone know of a program that will allow GIF files to be viewed on a Plus
or SE? I don't care if the file has to be dithered to one bit per pixel.

GIFConverter 2.0d9 is available in a demo version in the GRAPHSUPPORT
forum, library 3, on CompuServe. This is the real posting point for the
program. When you order it, I give you a soft key so you can get
upgrades by downloading the latest demo and unlocking it.

Try either GIF Converter or Vision Lab to view GIFS on a Mono Mac.

I think a program called 'Vision Lab' will do what you want...In fact, it
will even allow you to view PixelPaint docs on a 1-bit Mac.
