I've gotten some requests for information and since I'll be out of town next week I thought I'd post some information and preliminary results. The 150 Meg TEAC is similar to the current 60 Meg unit. It uses a data CASSETTE, a CT600N. The lowest price I've gotten so far is $20. The reason I posted this is because you don't need a separate driver. There are at least 2 Mac backup packages that know how to talk to the drive. One is Fastback II which is what I am currently trying. If you can get it on there special deal for $40 it's really a bargain. The other is Retrospect. I'm sure that there are others I don't know about. You do need a case and power supply. Tulin, who was recently mentioned has a case and power supply with fan and SCSI connectors. It's full height so you could install the tape unit AND a half height SCSi drive. The problem that I'm having is that the SCSI ID doesn't seem to be configured properly. It shows up at more then one SCSI address. This prevents other SCSI drives from working properly. I have gotten it to work with a floopy system to back up a file server. With both Macs connected to ethernet I have gotten a backup rate of a Meg a minute. The manual is on the way, but, I may not get it before I leave. As soon as I have gotten it to work correctly I'll post more info. Stephen Sakamoto UCLA Computer Science Department steph@cs.ucla.edu
