[comp.sys.mac] How can I make a SCSI HD autoboot?

duct@pawl.rpi.edu (Ron Flickinger) (08/08/89)

I have a new Maxtor SCSI hard drive which I have connected to my Mac
Plus. The only way I can get it to mount is by using the cdev SCSI Tools;
other than that, it works fine. I have the SCSI ID set to 4, and no
other SCSI devices connected. I have also connected the drive to a
friend's Mac SE (which has an internal 20 MB drive). It also will not
autoboot or automount on his computer. Using the Startup Device selector
(which will run on the SE but not the Plus) has no effect. According to
_Inside Macintosh_, things really ought to work, even on a Plus. So I
am thinking that perhaps physical blocks 0 & 1 and/or the device driver
are somehow messed up. Can anyone help with this?
