I'm posting this for Michael since the working news program there seems to have gone out for lunch ... Please send your replies to him, not me. -John --- Does anyone have the names of companies that produce multi-function video cards? That is, video cards that can drive more than one type of monitor. I would especially be interested in cards that could operate Apple's standard, full-page, and two page displays, although any other info would also be helpful. Also, are there any of these available for the SE/30? (It would be really nice if one of these cards could also drive an LCD projector, but I may be asking a bit much here. Also, if anyone has had some experience with accelerator boards for Mac SEs, let me know. Several people here are wanting to give their SEs math coprocessors so that they can use some statistics packages that are available. Please reply by e-mail. Our system here has "gone back in time." News confuses it. It counters by sending it to /dev/null, which makes reading it quite difficult. -Michael -- Michael Niehaus UUCP: <backbones>!{iuvax,pur-ee}!bsu-cs!mithomas Apple Student Rep ARPA: mithomas@bsu-cs.bsu.edu Ball State University AppleLink: ST0374 (from UUCP: st0374@applelink.apple.com)

The Gemini line of accelerators supports both coprocessors and a couple of large screen displays(E-machines and MegaScreen I think). You can upgrade these cards to faster speeds with a new plug in oscilator(sp?). They also have two sockets so you can buy it with a 68020 and upgrade it to a 68030 later. I just did this in my Mac+, it works in an SE as well. To my knowledge this is the only card that offers this upgradablity. I'm able to run Virtual in an old Mac+! It has extended the life of my machine thru system 7.0. If you are interested in more info I sell these things on the side at discounts that are hard to beat. I purchased my first one to speed up my BBS, it made my mac+ run faster than my MacII, I really love it and the support from TSI has been the best I have ever gotten from a Mac vendor. Tech support at this company knows what makes the board tick, how it is built and haw far you can push it. If you want to know more send me Email. Sorry for the commercial but I love this thing! It is also the only solution that lets a Mac+ or 512KE owner upgrade for 7.0 that I know of. Bob Murrow SYSOP MacDaze and MacDazeII BBS 408-253-3926 and 408-252-6801
