We are networking our (one and only I'm afraid) Mac to our VAX via Ethernet. We have a whole bunch of IBM PC clones tied to the VAX also. If I write a Word document on the Mac and send it up to the VAX, can the clones copy it down and work with it in Word on their systems? If not, what else needs to be done to the file to make it accessible? What other equipment or software will I need to make this possible? If I can make this happen smoothly, it would sure make Macs look more attractive around here. Thanks.

We have MACs and PCs on the same Ethernet, sharing a Novell file server. I imagine you should get the same results with a VAX. If you save a Word doc on the PC, then try and load it on the MAC, Word asks for the location of the style sheet. It then does a 99% perfect job of creating the equivalent on the MAC. The other way is not as good. You have to explicitly "Save as" an MS-Word format document. When you go to the PC and load the document, all the formatting has been applied to the elements of the document, and the styles are gone. So it is a bit of a one-way path. We are using Word 4 on the MAC and Word 5 on the PC.
