We've had an Appletalk network connecting five Macintosh Pluses a Mac SE and a Laserwriter up and running for two years now. A month ago, we moved two machines added another plus and added two new lengths of cable to one end of the network. Now we have an intermittent problem. When we run the system for a while, the two systems at the new end of the network can no longer access the laserwriter, which is located at the other end. The Mac SE, at the other end of the network, also cannot find the laserwriter. And, SOMETIMES, some of the Mac Pluses in between cannot find the laserwriter. We then check all the connections to the appletalk network and SOMETIMES the problems disappears. If we disconnect the new section of cable, the laserwriter is accessible to the rest of the Macs. We did a continuity test on the new cables, while stressing the connections, and could not find any broken connections. The network is a little over 70 feet in length. My thoughts are that we could be experiencing a termination problem, but I don't know how to check for that. Any suggestions on solving this problem would be greatly appreciated. -Larry Blessman No disclaimer necessary.
