Maybe I missed this somewhere else, but, where and how can I get my hands on the Virtual INIT? Barry Fausnaugh -- Arpa: barry@vax1.acs.udel.edu Uucp: ...{ihnp4,unidot,uunet}!cfg!udel!udccvax1!barry

I picked up a copy of the Virtual INIT, version 1.05 at Connectix booth at MacWorld. TINAR, but I thought that people would like to hear about it... My system is a Mac II with 5MB and a PMMU; the disk is a Quantum P80 in a LaCie box . This INIT is fantastic. The current versions works with everything - TMON, MacsBug (which I didn't try), THINK C and THINK Pascal (which I did try). The disk hits incurred by virtual memory are not noticeable, which is one of the benefits of having a fast drive - if you have a 68ms Seagate drive, I suggest getting a fast Quantum or Imprimis drive before getting Virtual. Well worth the cost. Version 1.05 is the current version; they were showing a beta of version 2 at the booth, which will allow dynamic configuration up to 14MB (it maps into the slot spaces of unused slots), and will also let you pick the disk where you want the swap file to reside. This bit of software is definitely worth getting; if you don't have a PMMU or a 68030 machine, you'll have to procure a PMMU - Connectix sells a version of Virtual that includes it. I have no connection with Connectix except as a satisfied paying customer.
