Hi, I am planning on buying a large hard disk for a mac IIcx (running A/UX and MacOS). I have been looking at a variety of 300MB disks, and finally have almost decided on the La Cie 600 MB hard disk (mostly 'cause I noticed that it cost $3100, while the cheap 300's cost about $2700! For $400 I will suffer with an extra 300 MB!) Has any one used La Cie hard disks? Any comments about them? Have you ever had problems with them? If so, what was their service/support like? (I heard about the lack of silver* software... I asked about that at MacWorld... they said that they did have problems, but Everything but Silver Platter (the modem sharing software) was being shipped currently, and that that would come later -- I don't remember who had that problem, but has anybody received it yet?) Any other comments about the drive? thanks in advance, +C -- Cory Kempf Technology Concepts 40 Tall Pine Dr. uucp: {anywhere}!uunet!tci!kempf, kempf@tci.uu.net Sudbury MA 01776 phone: (508) 443-7311 x341 DISCLAIMER: TCI is not responsible for my opinions, nor I for theirs

It's super-quiet and super-fast. They used to ship the CDC drives (of which the 110 is one) with internal SCSI cables which had line 40 cut, in order to ensure backward compatibility with old-ROM Mac Plus-es. This caused some problems for me ... but the solution is to install a new, uncut SCSI cable, which they told me this morning they are shipping ... I have found them to be very cooperative, informed, and patient in both sales and technical support. I would not hesitate to recommend buying from La Cie ("the Company"). v v sssss|| joseph hall || 4116 Brewster Drive v v s s || jnh@ecemwl.ncsu.edu (Internet) || Raleigh, NC 27606 v sss || SP Software/CAD Tool Developer, Mac Hacker and Keyboardist -----------|| Disclaimer: NCSU may not share my views, but is welcome to.
