I want to be able to connect a box in series with the SCSI cable to my hard disk in order to disable the disk at the throw of a switch. This is so that a teenager can use the Mac booting from floppy only without having to power down the disk. Who knows which SCSI signals need to be interrupted in order to disable the disk without producing an error condition (it is currently on SCSI ID=4). There may be a 20MB mega-floppy earlier in the SCSI chain at some point, serving as backup device/teen boot disk. The interrupted signal(s) would therefore presumably need to be terminated correctly. Suggestions of software solutions would also be welcome. I don't want to encrypt disk partitions; protection is against careless rather than deliberately malicious users. Please e-mail me responses, I will post a summary to the net. Stephen Marcus att!iexist!marcus marcus@iexist.att.com
