[comp.sys.mac] Help - sad mac after memory upgrade on a plus

sid@friday.rtech.COM (Sid Shapiro) (08/24/89)

Well, I did it. I upgraded, by hand, my plus memory to 4mb. It wasn't
hard, but. I was careful about static charges. I pulled out the old
simms. I slipped in 4 1mb simms, I clipped one lead on the 256K
resistor and bent it out of the way (just in case it needed to be
replaced later if I messed up...). I put it all back together and
booted and voila - a sad mac with the status code of 030200.

I was nervous during this whole procedure. I've pulled PC's, MAC IIs,
and Suns apart and was never nervous - see what happens when you are
working on your OWN equipment?.

Anyway I find that if I hold down the mouse on power up, the system does
come up and the finder reports 4MB, but it does fail the self test. So
far it hasn't crashed, but I've only used it for a little while and
quite probobaly not touched all the memory.

Anybody have an idea what I did wrong or how to fix?

Thanks for any and all.
