FEATURES AND BENEFITS Macintosh Pascal is an interpreted version of ANSI standard Pascal that leverages the Macintosh graphical user interface to make programming easy to learn. Like SymantecUs professional development environments, Macintosh Pascal includes an integrated editor and a built-in source-level debugger. The Macintosh Pascal editor automatically formats Pascal programs and catches syntax errors, making it easy for students to locate typing errors. The built in source-level debugging tools make it easy to understand and correct program logic. Macintosh Pascal version 3.0 adds support for new system software and networks. The new release runs on all Macintosh computers from the Macintosh 512Ke to the Macintosh IIcx and is compatible with Apple's MultiFinder. Enhanced network file support allows users to print the programUs output to a networked printer and to launch the program from a server. The new release simplifies installation and allows users to print and save text or drawing windows. Macintosh Pascal was originally developed in 1984 for Apple Computer by THINK Technologies, now the Language Products Group of Symantec Corporation, and was the first Pascal available for the Macintosh. This is the first update to Macintosh Pascal since Apple transferred the marketing rights for the product to Symantec Corporation in July 1988. TARGET MARKETS The easy-to-use, integrated environment of Macintosh Pascal version 3.0 is designed specifically for novice programming students. Schools with a mixture of Macintosh computers appreciate the convenience of a development environment that runs on all popular Macintosh systems. The program runs with a minimum configuration of one 800K disk drive and 512K RAM. Macintosh Pascal is currently used to teach programming in courses at Drexel University, the University of California, Berkeley, the US Coast Guard Academy, and other educational institutions.
