A little background: The Mac is capable of generating a string for both a 'long' date and a 'abbreviated' date, where the abbreviated date is abbreviated by such means as abbreviating the names of the months and days. The international resources in the System File record the number of characters of the month and day that should be shown for an abbreviated date; for example, if this number is 3, you'll get Wed instead of Wednesday. Now for my question: I remember reading in this newsgroup a few months ago a remark that this method wasn't sufficient: that the abbreviations for some languages were of different lengths, for example, or that the first 'n' chars of the month names weren't what was usually used to abbreviate the names. I'd like to know if this is in fact the case. Please mail me if you can confirm this. Thanks very much! Eric Schlegel ---- Microsoft owns my code, but the opinions are all mine.
