I need to do some home computing and have an opportunity to buy a Mac. I'd like some opinions on whether this is what I need. my computing needs: -word processing (nothing too fancy) -terminal emulation (probably at 2400 baud) -basic finance mgmt. -MIDI sequencing & patch editing & storage (again, nothing high-powered) I don't see this list increasing much in the next few years. the machine: -Mac 512k -1 external 400k drive -Dove 512k -> 2 Mb upgrade (called a 548 upgrade) -Dove aux. ROM board to let the 64k ROMs access the added memory -heavy-duty nylon carrying case (one of those ~$75 models) Assuming that it's ok functionally and given that I can get the 512k -> 512ke upgrade locally for ~$250 (student discount) and the alternative is probably to resurrect my C64, is this The Machine For Me? Is software available to do the things i mentioned (used and PD are ok)? Is $350 a good price? And what about Naomi? I really appreciate any help; e-mail your reply unless you think everyone wants to know (I don't know this group well).
