Is there a way to make a program (such as MS Word 4.0) come up with a default folder when invoking the save (or save as) command. It typically comes up with the folder that the application was opened from... Can this be changed? I could see no reference to this in any manuals. -- ** Brian Klaas, Design Engineer *** DISCLAIMER: All opinions ** ** Intel Corporation *** stated here are strictly my own. ** ** InterNET -> bklaas%sedona.intel.com@relay.cs.NET UUCP: ** ** {hplabs,decwrl,oliveb,pur-ee,qantel,amdcad}!intelca!mipos3!sedona!bklaas **

About setting programs to save documents to folders other than the folder the application is launched from: look for a cdev called DFaultD, I believe it's up to version 1.01. Does absolutely exactly what you need to; in addition, you can define sets you can select, where in set A an application defaults to folder A, and in set B the same application defaults to folder B. This comes in most handy when two or more people are using the same machine; each person can select his own set, and save his own docs wherever. I found it on GEnie or CIS, can't remember which, and it's likely someone here has it, also. --Adam Frix Summa Cum Laude Ohio State University-- -- Adam Frix via cmhGate - Net 226 fido<=>uucp gateway Col, OH UUCP: ...!osu-cis!n8emr!cmhgate!200!Adam.Frix INET: Adam.Frix@f200.n226.z1.FIDONET.ORG

I use a shareware cdev (control panel document) called DefaultD which allows the user to link default folders to individual applications. You should be able to pick this up from a bulletin board or local users' group. If not, let me know and I'll make a copy for you. ---- Edward J. Svoboda P.O.
