This is pretty easy to do in HyperCard - creating a set of records using a
nice screen form in a HyperCard stack, and then exporting a "formatted"
set of mail merge records to a plain text file using a simple script.

(the data file for the merge can be plain text, it does not actually
have to be a formatted Word file). A handy tool to make this easier is
the FieldToFile XCMD from the Dartmouth XCMD collection. (The XCMD lets
you specify the creator for the file) If anybody is really interested I
could post an example stack to mac.binaries or the hypercard group.

I'd certainly be interested in this kind of stack and any info
on where I could get my hands on the XCMDs.

	I would also be interested.

Hi there,

I am looking for software, public domain or otherwise, that will allow you to
set up data entry screens to be used with the mail merge function of MS-Word.
What we want, is instead of having to format the info properly yourself in the
data file, is a program that will allow you to set up field names and sizes
the enter records into the form and use it in form letters and other ways in
a word processing file.

Any information leading to the whereabouts (sp?) and capture of such a program
would be greatly appreciated. You may respond to me by E-mail or post to the
net as you see fit. Thanks in advance.
