[comp.sys.mac] AppleScan behaves weirdly with windows ?!

d88-jwa@nada.kth.se (Jon W{tte) (09/02/89)

I use an Apple Scanner (set to SCSI channel 3, this is the default ?)
with my SEx for some DTP work. I've used this before without any
problems, both on an SEx and an ordinary SE.

Now I used the "Main WDEF" INIT, to make the windows look like the NeXT,
and the "settings" windows never got created. This INIT works well
with all other programs I've tried (Including Word 3, PageMaker 3 and
several other perhaps-not-entirely-according-to-technotes-but-still-
workable programs) Does Apple do something stange in this program ?

Second problem: I removed the INIT and everything was fine, until:
It breaked into MacsBug from a DebugStr call ! When I continued (the
routine seemed to be able to cope with a single "g") the drive
whined for a while (Apple's Quantum 40) and then the program returned
to normal operation - except that any further "Save" breaked back into
MacsBug. Weird. On the disk there was a file wil the name
"<given name>0345893409360" or similar numbers. String Range error ?

This makes me wonder - Apple says "do this" but does that themselves...

Sort of heard-it-before, no ?
