[comp.sys.mac] Smart Alarms

stel@tank.uchicago.edu (stelios valavanis) (06/21/89)

HEY, what's the latest version of Smart Alarms? You know, the prog
that beeps you for appointments etc. I had rented a version (year
ago) that modified your system file to do its thing. It worked fine
but I didn't like the idea of a modified system. I was hoping there
was a new version that worked with an init/cdev combo or something
(init/DA whatever). Anybody know anything??

	The latest version is v2.9.1

You now have a choice of installing it in your system or to install in
into a F/DA Mover Suitcase and use either Suitcase or Font/Da Juggler to load
it.
	It has tones more features.

The manual I got with my 2.9.1 upgrade said nothing about installing it
as a F/DAM suitcase. I'll have to try it (in conjunction with Suitcase II).

I just installed Smart Alarms on my system (SE/20, 2.5MB, 6.02). Since
then, bringing up almost any other DA crashes the system, and most
applications can't find the printer (I get "can't find printer" messages,
error -108, "printer not connected", etc.). I can't believe a
product this well known (not to mention expensive) can be this
obviously incompatible. I don't think I screwed up the installation,
since it comes with its own installer program which runs almost
automatically. Does anyone have any idea what's going wrong and
how I can fix it? (For the time being, I removed it from the system,
and everything else is back to normal.) I believe this is the latest
version of Smart Alarms, 2.9.1.
