[comp.sys.mac] Grammer Checkers

dac@zehntel (Dennis Carlson) (09/06/89)

I recently (1 wk ago) received my copy of Sensible Grammer. So far I have found it works well. It seems to be a little slow, but then it has a lot to check. This was the only grammer checker I could find at the time.
The program checks phrases ie. too wordy, cliche. It seems to check mechanics and punctuation quite well. It will also tell you how readable the document is and if your words, sentances and paragraphs are too long. These last three items can be adjusted by the user. It also checks for racist, sexist, latin, french and legal terms. If any of these are found it prompts you with a replacement. You can add or remove words or phrases whenever you like. If you get tired of the program flaging "his and he

r" as possibly incorrect, you can delete them from the list. This way you can customize the program to meet your individual needs. The manual that comes with it is quite good. I e-mailed this to someone who requested the information, but I don't know if it was received.

Hmm. Should people really trust a grammar checker whose name contains
a misspelling? :-)

P.S. Please hit <Return> at the end of each line when typing text to
Unix.
