We are in the process of installing a new twisted-pair wiring system in 3 buildings at Caltech to support twisted-pair Ethernet, Localtalk, and RS-232. We currently have some Macs connected with their own flat modularr phone cords and Fallaron PhoneNet connectors. I would like to move the Macs to the new wiring, and this raises several questions: 1. What experience have people had with Nuvetech ST vs PhoneNet Plus boxes? 2. Any problems with using both on the same network? 3. Are the Nuvotech ST boxes really "completely terminating" such that I can plug and unplug Macs from various arms and not have to worry about the termination aspects of the network? 4. Is it worth replacing the PhoneNet Plus boxes with Nuvotech ST boxes? Please send responses to me, and I will summarize. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Doug Neuhauser Div. of Geological and Planetary Sciences doug@seismo.gps.caltech.edu California Institute of Technology 818-356-3993 MS 252-21, Pasadena, CA 91125 ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Doug Neuhauser Div. of Geological and Planetary Sciences doug@seismo.gps.caltech.edu California Institute of Technology 818-356-3993 MS 252-21, Pasadena, CA 91125
