We've been experiencing a flow control problem with our terminal emulation packages that access our VAX cluster using an IP link (known as the PSU Backbone here at Penn State). The two software packages we are using are NCSA Telnet 2.2 and Brown University's TN3270 (which does IBM emulation). Both packages are using VERY similiar config.tel files. What happens is that during the scrolling of l;ong documents, the flow control is being turned off, but not being turned back on. The VAX still thinks I'm connected, and I can even continue and logoff. But my screen doesn't change (obviously). Somewhere along the line, the flow control ON is not being interpretted. I've eliminated the AppleTalk network as the problem. I had my MAC and the Kinetic's FastPath taken off the network. The same problem occurred. I've also had the same problem on other AppleTalk networks that are not connected to our LAN. So I don't believe our AppleTalk network is the sole problem. As far as I can tell, the problem is with the software's config.tel file, the Kinetics FastPath configuration (K-Star), the settings on the VAX (CMU Tektronix software), or our Backbone (doubtful). Any help, simple or complex is greatly needed. Jeff Lynn Computer Services, College of Agriculture p.s. Currently, I can only be reached by E-mail at either: JHLYNN@PSUPEN or JHL1@PSUVM
