[comp.sys.mac] Option keycap

jeremyr@cs.qmc.ac.uk (Jeremy Roussak) (09/03/89)

Can someone with either an old Mac keyboard or a long memory please
tell me what the diagram on the old option key looks like?

A diagram drawn with dashes, slashes and vertical bars (if required)
would be perfectly adequate: a work of art is not needed!

Please email to avoid cluttering the group.

Thanks

Thanks to all who responded. Most people, it would seem, have never seen
an early Mac128 keyboard and think that the option key always had the
word option on it! Fow anyone interested, the original option key had
a symbol rather like:

----------
     \
      ----

It seems it is my ignorance of the US keyboard arrangement that is to
blame for my last message on this topic. Mea culpa.

Non-US keyboards for the early Macs have the "switch" symbol on the
option key. US keyboards have apparently always had either Option or
option on the key.
