I know that this has been asked before, but how exactly can you do your
own upgrades. I know that just adding the SIMM's might not work for some
upgrades. I heard that some resistor has to be removed. My questions are:
1: which resistor should be removed for a 128->512, which one for a 512->
Plus, and which one for PLus->2Meg.
2: what would be the cheapest way to get the SIMM's. Mailorder?
3: I can get some of the old Mac128 Chips. Can I upgrade my Plus with these?
And how about a friends 512KE.
Please reply as thoroughly as possible , so that I won't blow up my Mac. I
can handle the soldering and the resistor part. I just don't have the right
knowledge.

Due to the high prices of Macs these days, I am considering the following option: upgrade a 128K/512K/512e Mac to a Mac Plus, and then add an accelerator board. Does anyone have any advice as to whether I should use a 128K, 512K, or 512e as my starting point? These days, the going rates are $550 for the 512e, $475 for the 512K, and $300 for the 128K (according to the Boston Computer Exchange). Also, I don't understand how the 512e is different from the Plus and the old 128K. My understanding is that it's a 128K with a double-sided disk drive, but lacking the Plus ROMS and motherboard (with SCSI port). Where can I buy Mac Plus ROMS cheap? Where can I buy 800K disk drives? Where are good sources for 128K upgrades? Please reply to me, and I will summarize for the net.
