[comp.sys.mac] Requesting Source for Mac Cables

shino@qip.UUCP (Rei Shinozuka) (09/12/89)

I'd like to know if there are any good mail-order sources for Macintosh
cables. The ones I need always have to be ordered from computer stores
anyway, so why not do it myself?

1) ADB extension cable - around 3 ft? I don't even know if such a cable
   exists
2) mini-8 (back of SE) to Imagewriter I (25 pin) - 6 feet or so
3) DB9 (back of Mac512E) adapt to mini-8 cable end

thanks,

-rei

I recommend Micro Computer Cable Co., Inc. They offer a wide range of Mac
cables at very reasonable prices. Here are some examples:

ADB extension cable 6' $4.50
SE to ImageWriter I 6' $5.75
8 MINI DIN to DB9 adaptor	$5.75
SCSI Terminator $17.00
SCSI Perip. Int. Cable 6'	$11.50
Mac to SCSI 6' $7.50

and many more ...

Their cables come with a lifetime warranty and they have volume purchase
discounts. They also have a free catalogue that you could ask for.

Micro Computer Cable can be reached at:

	16018 Huron River Dr.
	Romulus, MI 48174

	313-941-6500 voice order line
	313-941-6574	fax order line

I HAVE NO CONNECTION WITH MICRO COMPUTER CABLE CO., EXCEPT AS A SATISFIED
CUSTOMER.

I found a place in MacUser called Computer Inc (201) 241-5400 which can
get me 1 and 2. However 3 is the one I really need now. Doesn't anyone
have an upgraded 128 or 512 with which he's had to use a mini-8 cable?

Thanks,

The last time I needed cables I called "System Connection", a
mail order house in Provo ( 1-800-825-1895 ) They shipped me a
	6 ft DB25 - 50 pin SCSI cable, and a Din-8 to DB9 converter
for $17.50 including shipping & COD.

They have ADB extension cables 6" for $5.50, Din-8 to Imagewriter 1
( 6" ) for $5.00, and DB9 to Din-8 ( they call it a "reverse adapter"
) for $5.00. I got these prices from the back of Macintosh News,
August 7th.

ComputerWare, Palo Alto, CA 800-235-1155

MAC, Berkeley, CA 800-289-2622 (overall best prices around)

I'm sure there are others. I use these pretty much exclusively, due to prompt
service, reasonable prices, and proximity to me.

     Regards,

Jameco Electronics sells a variety of Mac cables for VERY reasonable
prices (<$5 for a modem cable, for instance). I don't have their catalog
handy, but pick up a copy of Byte and look in the advertisers index.

I have no connection with Jameco except as a satified customer. But you
probably assumed that anyway, didn't you?
