Hi, I am having a couple strange problems with my Mac that I cannot solve. This is a 5 meg Mac IIx with Apple 13-inch color monitor and extended video card, running System 6.0.3, with the 32-bit Quickdraw init and LaserWriter driver 6.0. The problems may be related, they started at about the same time. The first thing is that upon startup, the Mac logo is displayed in black and white instead of color, as is the apple on the menu bar. The 32-bit Quickdraw init icon does not show up at boot time either. This is annoying, but the other thing is a real problem: the Chooser cannot find the laser printer! I have tried re-installing the System software and print drivers and made sure that Appletalk is enabled and the Network cdev is set to Built-in; I also tried zapping the PRAM memory. But the Chooser still doesn't show any LaserWriters connected, and if I try to print, PrintMonitor gives me an error of "Can't find the laser printer LaserWriter". (The printer works fine from our other Mac). Has anyone seen this kind of behavior before? (It seems like this problem might have been covered on the net a few months back, but I wasn't having any problems then and didn't save the articles...) I would very much appreciate any advice you may have. --- Gary Carvell gww@g.cs.wvu.wvnet.edu
