From the October 1989 issue of MacWorld: A bug in early copies of MS Excel 2.2 causes formulas cut and pasted between cells to not always update cell references properly. If you own a copy of Excel 2.2 with creation and modification date of 05/05/89 then you're entitled to a free upgrade. You can call MS at 206-454-2030 for upgrade information. I can't believe that we are supposed to identify the the "bad" version of Excel by the date. Does this mean that Microsoft changed (fixed) Excel and didn't update the version number? Sounds like a pretty shitty way the control released versions. -- --Wally Miller domain: wally@fluke.COM ({sun,microsoft,uw-beaver}!fluke!wally) voice: +1 206 356 5940 snail: John Fluke Mfg. In article <11201@fluke.COM> you write: >I can't believe that we are supposed to identify the the "bad" version >of Excel by the date. Co., MS 251F, PO Box C9090, Everett, WA 98206 USA Both versions have the same creation date (May 5th), however the buggy version has a May 5th modification date and the fixed version has a May 19th modification date. You should look on your original locked disk to check these dates. If in doubt you should call MS at 206-454-2030. I have no connection with MS.
