I've got a friend who has a KayPro PC running Wordstar on which she has
a large number of small documents. She recently bought a Mac II, I think
using Microsoft Word, and she is slowly transferring the documents over
to the Mac by re-typing them. I am Mac literate, and somewhat communications
literate, but know nothing about the KayPro ( never even saw one ).
I was hoping that I could provide her with some solution to get her files
across. Does anyone out there know something about KayPro's and Wordstar?
I guess the easiest kind of solution I'm looking for would be:
On KayPro, convert Wordstar document into an ASCII text format.
Hook up a serial connection between the KayPro and the Mac.
Transfer the files using Kermit, Xmodem, or whatever.
Import them into Microsoft Word.
I know how to do the Mac side. I'm looking for information on the KayPro
side.
My questions are:
1) Is there an easy way to convert Wordstar documents into ASCII?
2) How do you go about hooking an RS232 line onto a KayPro?
3) Are there any Kermit, Xmodem, or whatever for the KayPro?
4) Any direct Wordstar to Microsoft word conversion utility by chance?
5) What format is a KayPro floppy anyway? Is it readable by an IBM PC?
If so, that is another solution ( although not ideal ).
Please respond with email. If anyone else is interested in the answers,
also email me and I'll post a summary to the net.
Thanks
