  OK, you're wrong. :-)  The Macintosh Portable uses lead acid batteries.
Even includes a "Battery DA" with a thermometer-like display, showing how
much power is left. Don't know about using the laptop as a pillow in the
sand, but at the Apple rollout, one of the first scenes in the video they
showed was of a girl in a bikini at the beach, with a Portable on the sand
next to her...
