Ok ... after posting my message requesting help with my constantly crashing SE running WP 1.0.2 et. al. under MultiFinder (see msg. "Please Help !! Gross Incompatabilities !!) I got a host of replies telling me to scrap WP 1.0.2 as my word processor. I'd love to be able to switch to MS Word 4.0 but here's the problem. My Mac is one in a totally PC environment, and I need to be able to exchange WP-PC files with the others in my office since that is the word processor used on the IBM side. So the question is, is there a way for me to be able to exchange MS Word 4.0 <-> Word Perfect PC (I have a DaynaFile 5.25") ?? Any and all answers would be most appreciated. Please e-mail to me at scb1@tank.uchicago.edu. Thanks in advance !! Sam -- Samuel C. Blackman ! InterNet : scb1@tank.uchicago.edu Link : UG0184 University of Chicago ! I run WordPerfect 1.0.2 under Multifinder daily (Mac II w/4 megs memory) and have no more than the usual problems involving INITs and other stray software downloaded from the net. One problem that has occurred (apparently involving some interaction between INITs and WordPerfect) concerns the WP configuration files. I've managed to trash those a few times, with ugly results--in particular, WP crashing when trying to perform file maintenance (from the command-L menu). Once I replaced the files and reconfigured WP, no problem. When these folks told you to drop WP, did they say why? I've read and heard numerous complaints about MS Word 3 and 4, and I'd be willing to bet (based on my previous experience with MSDOS Word Perfect) that by the time Mac WP goes into another version, it will be as much at home with the Mac environment as any Mac word processor. Finally, if you have continuing problems, call the Word Perfect Mac Help number. They answer their phones, and they do their best to help, or at least such is my experience.
